Changpeng Zhao

Changpeng Zhao stands at the forefront of the entire crypto space. As the CEO and founder of Binance, the largest cryptocurrency exchange by volume, he’s responsible for a huge chunk of all crypto trades happening all over the world. Aside from running his own crypto exchange he also developed a new token called Binance Coin (BNB), which ranks third in market capitalization.

Elon Musk

Since he co-founded PayPal, Elon has become one of the richest men in the world of technology. His best-known work to date is being one of the original investors and CEO of Tesla, an electric car company, and SpaceX, manufacturing vehicles for space exploration. In the world of cryptocurrency, Elon is a well-known advocate of Dogecoin, hailing the meme coin as ‘the people’s crypto’. 

Vitalik Buterin

Vitalik has always been a big name in the cryptocurrency industry ever since he founded Ethereum and launched its native coin, Ether (ETH) which currently ranks as the second-largest crypto with a market capitalisation of $16 billion. He revolutionized the crypto space with Ethereum where developers can create their own decentralized applications or dApps.

Jihan Wu

Wanting to provide AI and blockchain servers, chips, and cloud solutions for a myriad of institutions, Jihan Wu, along with co-founder Micree Zhan, established Bitmain Technologies in 2013 and has become a billionaire cryptocurrency entrepreneur.

When support for Bitmain Technologies is made, clients get access to the Antminer, a blockchain supercomputing device. Bitcoin.com—a mining pool and block explorer—is one of Bitmain Technologies’ other businesses. Before diving into cryptocurrency and blockchain he was an Investment Manager at China GRand Prosperity Investment.

Nayib Bukele

Nayib Bukele is known as the 43rd and current president of El Salvador. He’s been serving the country since June 1, 2019, and has made a particularly interesting choice in the country’s financial world. Since he’s also a businessman, Nayib Bukele saw the value of Bitcoin to his country by making El Salvador one of the few countries that accept Bitcoin as one of their legal tenders. 

Barry Silbert

In the world of cryptocurrencies, the name ‘Barry Silbert’ is associated with Digital Currency Group. It’s a well-known conglomerate that consists of five cryptocurrency-based companies that are made up of CoinDesk, Foundry, Grayscale, Genesis, and Luno. The company’s goal is to ensure clients receive vital blockchain technology services for their needs. 

Before he was the CEO of DCG, Barry was the Founder and CEO of the stock trading platform, SecondMarket (later acquired by NASDAQ). With his past accomplishments, Barry was awarded ‘Entrepreneur of the Year’ by Crain’s and Ernst & Young’s and became part of Fortune’s 40 Under 40 list.

Brian Armstrong

Before being the co-founder and CEO of Coinbase Global, Armstrong began his software experience as an Airbnb software engineer in 2012. Working with former currency trader Fred Ehrsam, the two men left their careers and started the largest, and publicly available cryptocurrency trading platform and wallet. 

His other technological projects included co-founding GiveCrypto, a philanthropic site that uses crypto tokens as a method of donation to help out penniless individuals. He was also the founder of UniversityTutor.com and had working experience with IBM, and Deloitte, his former employer Airbnb.

Charles Hoskinson

Before he was introduced into the world of cryptography, Hoskinson was a student of Metropolitan State University of Denver and the University of Colorado at Boulder and took classes in Analytic Number Theory. Because of his technological experiences and know-how, Hoskinson also shared input in establishing Invictus Innovations, Input-Output HK (IOHK), and possibly his best-known work: Ethereum.

His other roles in the crypto industry also include being founding chairman of Bitcoin Foundation’s education committee and the Cryptocurrency Research Group, and spearheading the creation of cryptocurrency Cardano in 2017.

Michael Saylor

Michael Saylor is best known for creating MicroStrategy a provider of analytics and mobility software, and its public trading activities as the biggest business intelligence company in the United States. His other achievements include the development of Saylor Academy, a learning community that’s a free-for-all, and being the author of the 2012 book, ‘The Mobile Wave: How Mobile Intelligence Will Change Everything.’ 

Being the founder, chairman, and CEO of MicroStrategy, Saylor saw the value of cryptocurrencies, and in particular, Bitcoin. Because of his belief that Bitcoin is a safer alternative to gold and bonds, MicroStrategy made a massive BTC token investment of $425 million in 2020. 

Jack Dorsey

Wanting to have groups of friends stay connected online, Jack Dorsey, along with Evan Williams, Biz Stone, and Noah Glass created the platform, Twitter. Since 2006, Twitter has been the home of millions of people to showcase their thoughts on a variety of topics. Since then, Jack Dorsey wanted to expand his business ventures outside of his beloved social media app. To do so, he dipped his toes in the world of cryptocurrency by creating and functioning as CEO of Square, a financial services firm.

Since he believed that the cryptocurrency Bitcoin is the ‘best’ online asset, Dorsey, through Square, made a big investment of $50 million in purchasing BTC tokens in October of 2020. Dorsey will also soon release Bluesky, a not for profit organisation focusing on developing blockchain social media technologies.

Raoul Pal

Wanting to explore the worlds of business, money, and economics, Pal founded an on-demand financial TV channel, Real Vision. Acting as its CEO, Pal has been giving video tutorials that use long-form interviews and in-depth research and analysis about finance—including cryptocurrency.

He also has other ventures outside of Real Vision by founding The Global Macro Investor. What Global Macro Investor does is, it’s a financial think tank that has a strong focus on creating important investment strategies people can use for hedge, pension, sovereign wealth, and family funds.

Sam Bankman-Fried

Thanks to his role as CEO at FTX and Alameda Research, a cryptocurrency derivatives exchange, Bankman-Fried has become the richest man in crypto. FTX is best known for its provision of excellent financial products for both novice and experienced traders. These products are such as options, leveraged tokens, derivatives, volatility products, and a variety of other financial instruments.
